چکیده

The economic performance of Sequential Hydrothermal Extraction (SeqHTE) and subcritical water extraction (SWE) was evaluated in this study for recovering bioactive compounds from potato peels. analysis included the cost estimation additional units required extract purification, such as polysaccharide separation, glycoalkaloid isolation, two final product purification alternatives: filtration or adsorption. An annual plant capacity 4540 tonne dry peel an on-stream factor 300 days were considered a basis study. tecno-economic showed that overall capital investments costs manufacture SeqHTE 1.5 to 2 times greater than SWE. However, two-stage system compared favorably with one-stage approach terms of. unit production costs. For adsorption, lowest price polyphenol estimated be $0.43/kg $67.00/kg, respectively. In contrast, SWE these $0.74/kg $70.00/kg, results also although adsorption notably more costly (5–7 higher), it provided significantly refined presumably superior quality product. Moreover, sensitivity operating costs, recovery potential generate co-products most important factors affect performance. Therefore, because allows complete utilization biomass possibly valuable bioactives; process may provide economical alternative valorizing

Recovery of steroidal alkaloids from potato peels using pressurized liquid extraction.

A higher yield of glycoalkaloids was recovered from potato peels using pressurized liquid extraction (1.92 mg/g dried potato peels) compared to conventional solid-liquid extraction (0.981 mg/g dried potato peels). Response surface methodology deduced the optimal temperature and extracting solvent (methanol) for the pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) of glycoalkaloids as 80 °C in 89% methanol. ...

Microwave-assisted extraction of phenolic antioxidants from potato peels.

A response surface method was used to optimize the microwave-assisted extraction parameters such as extraction time (t) (min), solvent (methanol) concentration (S) (v/v) and microwave power level (MP) for extraction of antioxidants from potato peels. Max. total phenolics content of 3.94 mg g⁻¹ dry weight (dw) was obtained at S of 67.33%, t of 15 min and a MP of 14.67%. For ascorbic acid (1.44 m...

Techno-Economic Assessment of Heat Recovery in Series Condensers Arrangement: Hot and Humid Regions

A direct expansion (DX) HVAC system is an efficient way to supply fresh and dehumidified air to a built environment. To improve the efficiency of a conventional DX system in hot and humid regions, fresh air dehumidification and conditioning systems with energy recovery measures are the key equipment to reach such a goal. To achieve this goal an integrated system is proposed. The integrated syst...

Techno-economic assessment of hybrid extraction and distillation processes for furfural production from lignocellulosic biomass

BACKGROUND Lignocellulosic biomass is one of the most promising alternatives for replacing mineral resources to overcome global warming, which has become the most important environmental issue in recent years. Furfural was listed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory as one of the top 30 potential chemicals arising from biomass. However, the current production of furfural is energy intens...

Techno-economic assessment of regional biomass use

An approach for techno-economic optimisation and for the analysis of industrial biomass use is proposed in this paper. The ARGUS model (German acronym for: allocation module for a computer-aided generation of environmental strategies for emissions), based on linear programming, has been implemented as one of the few models that investigates VOC emissions from approximately 40 industrial sectors...
